Elements of the Classroom

  • How to Handbook – A brief description of the students task in the classroom.

  • Plane Making Book – A how to handbook on paper airplane making.

  • Whiteboard – A place for students to record their judging criterion.

  • Model Area- A place where students can see and manipulate 3D models of the planes the pilots use in the stadium.

  • Mission Console – The students can use the Mission Console to set these parameters and test the model. They are trying to determine what aspects impact loops, floating, distance, and accuracy.

Parameters include:

  • 4 types of airplanes
  • 4 degrees of throw (180, 150, 120, and 90). These angles are measured horizontally
    where the floor is the Y axis.
  • 3 force options (soft throw, medium throw, hard throw)
  • 3 height options (5'0, 5'5, 6'0)
